Boss Building Plastics is a growing, family-run trade merchant specialising in building plastics and related materials. We supply fascia and soffits, guttering, cladding, flat roofing, drainage, warm roof systems, decking, insulation and timber to tradespeople and the public — with next-day delivery and no nonsense.
We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Branch Manager to work alongside the Branch Manager and help run the day-to-day operation. This is a small team, so you won’t be stuck in an office. You’ll be on the counter, in the yard, on the phone and covering the manager when they’re out.
The role
- Support the Branch Manager and keep the branch running to a high standard
- Serve trade and retail customers: quotes, orders, payments, product advice and problem-solving
- Build proper relationships with regular customers so they come back to us
- Help with goods in/out, stock, yard work and keeping the place tidy and safe
- Chase quotes and follow up orders so nothing gets missed
- Cover the manager’s absence: open/close, banking, daily figures and reporting
- Occasional delivery driving when needed
- Help the team hit branch targets without dropping service or safety
What you’ll need
- Industry knowledge is essential — building plastics, roofline, drainage or a builders merchant trade counter
- Previous trade counter / builders merchant experience
- Supervisory experience is a big plus — or you’re a strong counter person ready to step up
- Confident with customers: friendly, straight-talking and able to deal with busy trade
- Happy to muck in across counter, warehouse and yard
- Organised enough to keep quotes, stock and paperwork under control
- Valid UK driving licence
- Forklift ticket useful, not essential — we can train the right person

Hours
Monday–Friday, 7.30am–16.30pm, 07.30-16.00pm on a Friday
