Job Summary
We are a family run haulage company, seeking a qualified person to act as nominated Transport Manager within our National Operator's Licence.
Successful candidate will also lead the logistics planning operations for our fleet of 7 articulated and ro-ro vehicles operating throughout the South West of England and the Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- As nominated Transport Manager, to ensure Operator Licence compliance.
- Manage driver compliance, working hours and transport legislation.
- Lead, coach and support transport teams.
- Conduct driver debriefs and performance reviews.
- Monitor fleet compliance and vehicle availability.
- Support employee wellbeing and development.
- Deliver toolbox talks and H&S initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement across all transport operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily transportation activities to meet delivery schedules and customer expectations.
- Operate transportation management system (TMS) along with others within the team of operations planners.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential).
- Strong understanding of Drivers' Hours and Operator Licence legislation.
- Proven supervisory experience managing transportation or logistics teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence not essential).
Preferential Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience with transportation management systems (TMS).
- Knowledge of freight regulations and safety standards.
- Experience of transport of non-hazardous waste
- Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
