The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Weaving backshift team as an Operative. You will operate the weaving looms with minimal down time to produce quality fabric to customer specifications.
Our backshift is 4pm – 2pm Monday to Wednesday and 4pm – 1am Thursday. A shift allowance is payable for each shift.
There may be occasion where dayshift is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a safe manner in adherence to company Health and Safety standards
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area
- Oversee the weaving of the cloth – to check for issues with pattern, broken threads, stitchers or bobbins running out. Also ensure that the on-board computers are communicating.
- Find and repair breakages to weft & warp
- Ensure that the looms are kept clean
- Understand the individual differences/requirements between loom
- Minor tweaking of the loom to ensure efficiency
- Update the Bar-co system every time the looms is stopped or the job is changed
- Take pieces off the machine at the end of the job
- Responsible for manual calculations regarding the pieces to rugs conversation to enter on computer
- Cross-skill within the weaving department and within other departments where required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Good hand to eye coordination
- Good eye for colour and design
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and multitask when necessary.
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts, including early and late shift
Salary: Real Living Wage Employer

- 37 hours per week with occasional overtime
- Monday to Thursday
