Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Ground Maintenance Operative to join our team, providing high-quality grounds maintenance services at sheltered accommodation schemes and other commercial properties around Aberdeen and Moray area. The successful candidate will help maintain safe, clean, and attractive outdoor environments for residents, visitors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers.
- Strimming, edging, and hedge trimming.
- Weed control and general grounds upkeep.
- Leaf clearance and seasonal maintenance tasks.
- Litter picking and keeping communal outdoor areas clean and tidy.
- Planting, pruning, and basic horticultural duties as required.
- Working professionally and courteously around residents, staff, and members of the public.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as power tools safely and efficiently
- Conduct minor repairs and preventative maintenance on tools and machinery
- Use hand tools for detailed gardening tasks and general upkeep
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Support seasonal planting, fertilising, and soil preparation activities
- Monitor the condition of outdoor spaces regularly and report any issues requiring specialised attention
- During quieter periods, additional tasks will be allocated as per the needs of the business, such as power washing, ground works and assist with line marking jobs.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating machinery such as excavators and power tools
- Proficiency in using hand tools for gardening, construction, or maintenance tasks
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools effectively
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Physical fitness to undertake outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures related to grounds maintenance operations
- Full UK driving licence essential
- PA1/PA6 pesticide application certificates
- Trailer towing experience
Pay: £13.00-£15.50 per hour
