We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Services Professional (Children & Families) to join our team at Havenfort CIC.
To provide professional information, advice, advocacy and welfare support to vulnerable children, young people and families within Havenfort CIC’s supportive housing programmes. To oversee safeguarding processes, mediate family disputes, coordinate multi-agency support, and ensure compliance with statutory welfare obligations. To contribute to the strategic development of welfare services and maintain accurate records in line with regulatory requirements.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full-time

Reports to: Head of Welfare Services / Social Services Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Direct Service Delivery
- Assess the welfare needs of children, young people and families residing in Havenfort CIC properties, developing tailored support plans
- Provide professional counselling and mentoring to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, family breakdown or housing-related stress
- Represent service users at tribunals, family court proceedings and multi-agency meetings, acting as their advocate and ensuring their voices are heard
- Oversee and supervise adoption and fostering processes where applicable, providing counselling to all parties involved
- Deliver rehabilitation and reintegration support to individuals transitioning from homelessness, substance misuse or the criminal justice system
B. Safeguarding & Risk Management
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, escalating to statutory authorities (Local Authority Children's Services, Adult Social Care) as required
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for high-risk households
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation (Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, Working Together to Safeguard Children)
C. Multi-Agency Coordination
- Liaise with social workers, probation officers, health professionals, education providers and housing authorities to create comprehensive support networks
- Attend Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Child (LAC) reviews and Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings
- Coordinate referrals to external specialist services (mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse support)
D. Strategic & Administrative Duties
- Contribute to the development and review of welfare policies, procedures and service standards
- Maintain accurate case records, data management systems and confidential files in compliance with GDPR and statutory requirements
- Manage allocated budgets for welfare activities and support programmes
- Prepare reports for senior management, trustees and external regulators (CQC, Ofsted, Local Authority)
- Supervise and mentor volunteers, placement students and part-time welfare support staff
E. Research & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of welfare interventions, using data to inform service improvements
- Participate in research projects and service evaluations to enhance evidence-based practice.
- Keep abreast of developments in welfare policy, legislation and best practice
