Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Vineyard Tractor Driver &; Skilled Vineyard Operative to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will operate vineyard tractors and machinery to support vineyard management activities, ensuring efficient vineyard operations. Your expertise will help maintain healthy vines, optimize productivity, and contribute to the overall success of our vineyard operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a vibrant environment, applying your mechanical skills and horticultural knowledge to produce high-quality grapes.
Duties
- Operating tractors safely and accurately within narrow vineyard rows
- Using specialist vineyard machinery and implements
- Spraying, mowing, cultivation and under-vine weed management
- Trimming, leaf removal, pre-pruning and other canopy-management operations
- Assisting with pruning, tying down, shoot removal and general vine husbandry
- Carrying out routine machinery checks, servicing and basic maintenance
- Helping with grape harvest and other seasonal vineyard work
- Maintaining accurate spray, machinery and vineyard records
- Supporting general estate and vineyard maintenance when required
Requirements
- Strong previous experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery
- The ability to work carefully and accurately around valuable crops and equipment
- Good mechanical awareness and basic maintenance skills
- A responsible attitude towards machinery care and safe working
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Good reliability, timekeeping and attention to detail
Desirable qualifications and experience
- The following would be beneficial, although training may be available for the right person:
- PA1 and PA3 pesticide application qualifications
- Previous vineyard, fruit-growing or specialist-crop experience
- Experience using mounted and trailed sprayers
- Telehandler, forklift or loader experience
- Fabrication, welding or additional mechanical skills
- Experience maintaining agricultural machinery
