We are currently seeking an experienced Optical Lab Technician to join our team in Glasgow. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of optical lab work including:
- Glazing, blocking, tinting, and lens edging.
- Use and maintenance of focimeters and other optical equipment.
- Process and verify daily deliveries, ensuring accurate order matching.
- Book in and out work from multiple stores using internal online systems.
- Handle incoming orders, including traying up and picking frames/lenses.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-compliant lab environment.
- Conduct stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Order frames, lenses, and consumables via online supplier portals.
- Support with general admin tasks: updating spreadsheets, job tracking, and branch coordination.
- Answer calls and emails from stores and customers, providing updates and resolving queries.
- Work collaboratively to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience in an optical lab setting (including glazing, blocking, and tinting).
- Confident in using a focimeter and reading optical prescriptions.
- Strong administrative and IT skills, including use of spreadsheets and email.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Ability to retain and apply technical knowledge.
- Good time management and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with optical lab management or ordering systems.
- Strong numeracy and accuracy.
- A team-focused approach with a proactive attitude.
