Insignia Technology Systems provides IT, telecommunications, networking, CCTV, security, photocopier, managed print and EPOS solutions to businesses throughout Wales and beyond.
We are looking for a practical, hands-on IT, Telecoms & Business Systems Engineer to join our growing team. This is a varied role involving the installation, maintenance and support of a wide range of business technology solutions, including computer systems, networks, telecommunications, CCTV, photocopiers, managed print devices and EPOS systems.
This position combines technical support with physical installation work and would suit somebody who enjoys working both with technology and on-site engineering projects. One day you may be installing network cabling, CCTV cameras or a new photocopier, while the next you may be deploying cloud-based systems, supporting customers remotely or configuring routers and VoIP telephone systems.
No two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
Installations & Engineering
- Install and terminate CAT5e, CAT6 and fibre cabling.
- Install cable management systems, containment, trunking and conduit.
- Safely use hand tools and power tools to carry out installations.
- Drill, mount and secure equipment to walls, ceilings and other surfaces.
- Install and configure networking equipment including routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot VoIP telephone systems.
- Install and support CCTV and security solutions.
- Deliver, assemble and commission photocopiers, printers and managed print devices.
- Install, configure and support EPOS systems including terminals, receipt printers, barcode scanners and peripheral devices.
- Carry out site surveys and assist with project planning and implementation.
- Maintain high installation standards and ensure all work areas are left clean and tidy.
IT Support & Technical Services
- Install, configure and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
- Provide onsite, workshop, remote and telephone support.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and networking issues.
- Support Microsoft 365 and cloud-based services.
- Configure and support backup, cybersecurity and monitoring solutions.
- Manage support tickets and maintain customer records and documentation.
- Configure and support network-connected devices including printers, photocopiers and EPOS equipment.
- Assist with data migrations and system deployments.
Customer Service
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Ensure projects and support requests are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in IT, telecommunications, networking or technology installations.
- Practical experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Experience with structured cabling installations and cable management.
- Knowledge of routers, switches, Wi-Fi and general networking.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with VoIP telephone systems.
- Experience with CCTV and security systems.
- Experience with EPOS systems and retail technologies.
- Experience installing and supporting photocopiers and managed print solutions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, VPNs and Firewalls.
- Experience working in retail, hospitality, education or business environments.
- ECS, CSCS, IPAF or other relevant industry certifications.
Pay: £24,420.00-£35,000.00 per year
