Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our professional team. The successful candidate will support optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care services, assist with patient interactions, and ensure the smooth operation of our optical practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist them throughout their visit to ensure a positive experience
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking relevant medical histories and performing preliminary tests
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations, including handling equipment and recording findings accurately
- Support with the fitting, adjustment, and maintenance of spectacles and contact lenses
- Manage patient records, appointments, and follow-up communications efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the optical laboratory and consultation areas
- Support inventory management by ordering supplies and ensuring stock levels are maintained
- Provide information to patients regarding eyewear options, lens types, and aftercare instructions
Experience
- Previous optical experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Knowledge of optics, particularly related to the eye, is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour are required to assist patients effectively
- Organised with attention to detail to ensure accurate record keeping and smooth clinic operations
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining professionalism
