We are looking for a caring, compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatient and Ward Team at Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford, part of Phoenix Hospital Group.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant who takes pride in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and enjoys working as part of a supportive clinical team. Reporting to the Ward Manager and working alongside our Registered Nurses, you will play an important role in supporting patients before, during and following surgical, investigative and medical procedures. You'll help ensure that every patient receives the highest standards of care, dignity and reassurance throughout their experience with us.
About the role
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the clinical team with a wide range of patient care and departmental responsibilities, including:

Supporting Registered Nurses in delivering agreed plans of care.
- Providing compassionate, individualised care while maintaining patients' dignity, privacy and comfort.
- Supporting patients with activities of daily living where required.
- Taking and recording basic observations, including blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Using the early warning score system in line with hospital policy.
- Providing reassurance and emotional support to patients and their relatives.
- Undertaking phlebotomy and ECGs where competent.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and relevant IT systems.
- Supporting infection prevention and control standards, including cleaning equipment and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Maintaining supplies and equipment and supporting appropriate stock levels.
- Acting as a chaperone when required.
- Responding appropriately to patient feedback, complaints and incidents and escalating where necessary.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across different departments to provide an excellent patient experience.
We're looking for
Someone who is genuinely passionate about patient care and can demonstrate:

A minimum of GCSE education or equivalent.
- A Care Certificate.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health or Social Care, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience within a hospital environment.
- Competence in phlebotomy and undertaking ECGs.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer skills and confidence maintaining electronic records.
- A caring, patient-focused and professional approach.
- The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a wider clinical team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the department.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety, confidentiality and infection prevention.
Previous experience within the private healthcare sector and enthusiasm for working across different departments would be advantageous.
