Handyman / Maintenance Assistant – The Hollies Care Home
Location: The Hollies Care Home
Hours- 12 hours per week (flexible)

At Caring & Leading, we believe that a well-maintained environment plays a vital role in providing exceptional care. We are looking for a reliable and practical Handyman / Maintenance Assistant to join our team at The Hollies Care Home for 10–12 hours per week.
This flexible part-time role would suit someone with previous maintenance experience who enjoys a varied workload and takes pride in completing jobs to a high standard.
About the Role
Working alongside the Home Manager, you will help ensure the home remains safe, compliant and welcoming for our residents, visitors and staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out general repairs and maintenance throughout the home.
- Basic plumbing, joinery, decorating and minor electrical repairs (where competent).
- Assembling furniture and equipment.
- Replacing light bulbs, fixing doors, locks, handles and fixtures.
- Completing routine health and safety checks.
- Supporting with fire safety and environmental compliance checks.
- Maintaining the gardens and outdoor areas, including seasonal upkeep.
- Liaising with external contractors where required.
- Reporting maintenance issues and keeping accurate maintenance records.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to residents.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in property maintenance, handyman work or a similar role.
- Is practical, organised and able to work independently.
- Has good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
- Understands the importance of health and safety.
- Has excellent communication skills and enjoys working with older people.
- Is reliable, trustworthy and flexible.
