The Role
We are looking for an early-career Interior Designer who is ready to build practical experience across live residential and commercial projects. The position is particularly suited to a recent graduate seeking their first permanent design role.
Working closely with our Design, Sales, Operations and Installation teams, you will support projects from initial concept through to specification, client presentation and installation. The role combines creative work with product sourcing, project administration and client support.
Essential Requirements
- Degree, diploma or recognised qualification in Interior Design or a related discipline.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, layout skills, concept development and presentation ability. Academic work is suitable for this role.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Good Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- An enthusiastic, proactive approach with the ability to respond positively to feedback and work collaboratively.
- Ability to work from our Perivale office during the advertised hours.
Salary, Benefits and Development
- Salary of £25,000–£28,000 depending on portfolio, skills and relevant experience.
- Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm, based on 37.5 paid hours per week with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
- Permanent, full-time position with a three-month probationary period.

About Base Furnishings
Base Furnishings is a London-based furniture and interior design company delivering furniture packages, bespoke concepts and complete interior schemes for property developers, Build to Rent (BTR) and Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) operators, estate agents, private investors and selected commercial clients.
Our work covers show homes, rental developments, student accommodation, communal areas and residential projects. We bring creative design and commercial delivery together to create interiors that meet each client’s brief, budget and programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with furniture and interior schemes for residential, BTR, PBSA and selected commercial projects.
- Help interpret client briefs and develop creative concepts within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Produce mood boards, layouts, client presentations and 3D visuals with guidance from the Design Team.
- Support the preparation of FF&E schedules, product specifications and quotations.
- Research and source furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting, artwork and accessories.
- Create and amend drawings and prepare samples or presentation materials using relevant design software.
- Attend site surveys, client meetings and installations when required.
- Maintain organised project files, supplier information, product libraries and meeting notes.
- Work closely with colleagues across Design, Sales, Operations and Installation while developing commercial design and project delivery knowledge.
Desirable Experience
- Placement, internship, freelance or project experience in interior design, furniture or FF&E.
- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
- Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD or a 3D rendering package.
- Interest in residential development, BTR, PBSA, show homes or furniture packages.
- Awareness of UK furniture, fabric and accessory suppliers.
- Experience with Sage or a similar business system. Training will be provided on our internal CRM and business systems.
- A full UK driving licence.
Travel and Eligibility
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Availability to travel to client and project locations when required.
