Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Clinical Lead – Complex Care & Service Development to join our dedicated team. As Clinical Lead, you'll hold full clinical oversight of our complex care services, from tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent care through to epilepsy management, spinal and acquired brain injuries, and end-of-life care. You'll lead governance and quality assurance, develop staff competency, and work hand-in-hand with our operational teams to safely mobilise new care packages. This is a genuine dual role: equal parts clinical authority and commercial partner, working closely with commissioners, ICBs, case managers, and hospital discharge teams to grow the department sustainably.
There's also a real business development element to this role. You'll be in regular contact with other professionals building relationships that directly shape our referral pipeline. For the right person, this is a genuine opportunity to help grow the business, not just deliver within it: your clinical credibility and the professional relationships you build will open doors to new packages and new partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Providing expert clinical leadership and guidance across tracheostomy/ventilation, enteral feeding, spinal and brain injury, neurological and epilepsy care, and palliative care.
- Leading comprehensive clinical assessments, care planning, and complex package mobilisations, including hospital-to-home transitions.
- Owning clinical governance — audits, quality reviews, incident and safeguarding investigations, and CQC inspection readiness.
- Designing training and competency frameworks, and providing clinical supervision and mentoring to care staff.
- Managing clinical performance fairly and supportively, and championing staff wellbeing.
- Building relationships with NHS Continuing Healthcare teams, ICBs, local authorities, and case management companies to identify and win new care packages.
- Contributing to care proposals, tender submissions, and commissioner presentations.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (Adult and Children's) with current, unrestricted NMC registration.
- Minimum 5 years' post-registration experience, with significant time in complex care, community healthcare, homecare, or NHS Continuing Healthcare.
- A proven track record in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement.
- Leadership experience within multidisciplinary teams, with the confidence to manage performance and develop people.
- Commercial awareness — you understand how clinical quality and service growth work together, not against each other.
- Experience as a Clinical Lead and having worked in an office will be advantageous.
- Good experience with word, excel and PowerPoint.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
