Automotive Paint Technician

£40,000–£45,000 basic salary, dependent on experience + overtime

Prestige Paintwork is looking for an experienced Automotive Paint Technician to join our established, close-knit team in Haslemere.
We are an independent automotive bodyshop with a strong focus on quality workmanship, attention to detail and producing a finish we are proud to put our name to.
You’ll be joining a highly experienced team of technicians with over 80 years of combined experience within the automotive repair and refinishing trade, working together across a varied range of vehicles and repair work.
This is predominantly a paint-focused position.
We already have a dedicated technician who leads vehicle and panel preparation, meaning your main responsibility will be what you do best – accurate colour matching, paint mixing and producing an exceptional final finish.
During particularly busy periods, some assistance with preparation and masking may be required, so we are looking for someone who is happy to work collaboratively as part of the wider workshop team.
The Role
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Accurately colour matching paint across a wide range of vehicles
- Mixing and preparing automotive paint to the correct formulation
- Using our MIPA paint system and colour-matching technology
- Assessing colour and finish before application
- Applying primers, basecoats and clearcoats
- Full and partial panel refinishing
- Blending paintwork to achieve seamless repairs
- Identifying and rectifying paint or finish imperfections
- Polishing and finishing completed paintwork where required
- Working closely with our dedicated prep technician to maintain an efficient workflow
- Assisting with masking and preparation during periods of high workshop demand
- Maintaining a clean, organised and professional paint environment
- Ensuring completed vehicles meet Prestige Paintwork's high quality standards before leaving the workshop
About You
We are looking for an experienced technician who takes genuine pride in their workmanship and has a strong eye for colour and detail.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working as an Automotive Paint Technician
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Body & Paint, ATA accreditation or equivalent
- Excellent colour-matching and paint-mixing ability
- Strong knowledge of automotive refinishing processes
- Confident blending and refinishing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work efficiently without compromising on finish quality
- A professional and reliable approach
- The ability to work well within a small, close-knit team
Previous experience using MIPA paint systems or MIPA colour-matching technology would be advantageous, but is not essential.
