Overview
We require a roller shutter service & maintenance assistant engineer to assist our lead service engineer. In this role you will assist in the servicing and maintenance of roller shutters and related mechanical systems, 3 phase and single phase roller shutter doors, fire rated shutter doors, rapid roll doors, sectional doors and industrial insulated doors, personnel/steel, fire exit doors.
Your expertise will help ensure the safety, functionality, and longevity of our shutter systems across various facilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the smooth operation of essential building infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The role will focus on a range of projects predominately across the Northwest. The work base is in Bickerstaffe.
- Assist with the repair, and routine maintenance of roller shutters and associated mechanisms
- Conduct inspections to identify faults or wear and tear, ensuring timely repairs
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to carry out maintenance tasks accurately and efficiently
- Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to support troubleshooting efforts
- Support team members during complex repairs involving welding, electrical work, or masonry tasks
- Fastening of components/accessories to varying building fabrics, using correct fixings
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs performed, and parts used
- Follow Roller Shutter Services Ltd Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, Working from ladders, scaffolds, Mechanical Walking Platforms (Scissor lifts) ·
- Ensure the customer is always given demonstration after repairs and installations completed.
- Attention to detail and able to complete job sheets, and get them signed and dated, and pass certifications
- Liaise and assist the lead service engineer to ensure correct materials loaded for specific jobs
- Check load in the rear of the vehicle and on the roofrack is safe and secure before commencing any journey
- Check stock levels on the van daily
- Ensure all shutters are badged up
- Other duties as and when required
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools for various repair and fabrication tasks
- Good communication skills are necessary and good customer service skills
- Understanding of electrical experience relevant to motorized or automated shutter systems
- Construction experience with a focus on safety standards and quality workmanship
- Attention to detail and able to complete job sheets and pass certifications
- Full UK clean driving license
- Employment is subject to a satisfactory basic DBS check, so the successful candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check
Desirable (Although training is available):
- Scissor lift license /PASMA/IPAF
- CSCS
Schedule:
Hours of work are 8am to 4.30pm, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday with a 30-minute lunch break - 40 hour working week. Although you should have a flexible approach and be prepared to work overtime, as and when required.
21 days holiday (plus paid bank holidays).
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
