We are looking for a part-time qualified level 2 or 3 member of staff with at least 1 years recent childcare/nursery experience to join our team. We are looking for someone who can work Monday to Friday 9am till 3pm term time only.
The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic individual who is confident in working with children aged 2-5 years. We are looking for a staff member to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional needs, ensuring they can access the Early Years curriculum in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. They must be able to work alongside others, demonstrating their ability to use their own initiative and to provide the best care and learning opportunities for the child. The candidate must have good knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding. The candidate must be able to think of exciting new activities and ideas to extend child’s learning.
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
- Support the child’s learning, play, and engagement within the nursery environment
- Implement strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP / Individual Support Plan / SEN targets
- Encourage the development of communication, social interaction, and independence
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour using positive, inclusive approaches
- Work closely with the key person, SENCO, and wider nursery team
- Observe, record, and feedback on the child’s progress and needs
- Liaise appropriately with parents/carers and external professionals when required
- Ensure the child’s safety, dignity, and well-being at all times
- Follow all nursery policies, including safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality
Person Specification:
Essential:
- 1 years experience working with children in an Early Years or childcare setting as a qualified staff member
- Understanding of SEND and inclusive practice
- Patient, caring, and flexible approach
- Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Experience supporting children with specific needs (e.g. autism, speech and language delay, sensory needs)
- Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Early Years, Teaching Assistant, or equivalent)
- Training in SEND, behaviour support, or communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
