Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across the care home, ensuring a welcoming environment for clients, visitors and staff alike. Prior experience in care home, cleaning or janitorial services is an advantage. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of designated resident areas, including offices, communal spaces, bathrooms, and other facilities.
- Use appropriate cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively to ensure optimal hygiene standards.
- Assist with clearing away of breakfast items, including the collection of breakfast trays from residents’ rooms.
- Ensure the dining tables are laid for lunch, lay lunch trays for residents having their meals in their rooms or requiring feeding by care staff.
- Maintain organised and safe storage of cleaning supplies and equipment. Ensure cleaning products are never left in resident bed rooms or bathrooms.
- Vacuum all areas in the care home; wash all bathroom floors. Dust and polish all public areas in the home and empty waste bins including offices. Clean all surfaces in residents’ rooms.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to organisational policies regarding confidentiality and security of premises.
- Assist with specialised cleaning tasks as required, including carpet cleaning, window washing, or deep-cleaning projects.
- Conduct monthly showerhead cleaning for legionella as directed.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in care home cleaning or janitorial services is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly, while following COSHH guidelines.
- Excellent time management skills with the capacity to complete tasks within allocated timeframes.
- Reliable with a professional attitude and good communication skills. Pay: £13.45-£13.80 per hour
