Experienced Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer – Up to £50,000
An opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to join our team at Assured Heating Essex.
We are an award-winning, fast-moving heating company based in Rettendon, just outside Chelmsford. We install around 250 boilers each year and service, maintain and repair thousands more.

We are looking for the best
This position is not for an average engineer.
We are looking for an expert Service & Breakdown Engineer who knows their trade inside out. You need to be confident diagnosing faults, experienced across a wide range of boilers and heating systems, and capable of getting to the bottom of problems quickly and accurately.

We aren't looking to simply fill a position. We only want an engineer who is capable of working to a very high standard.
Air Conditioning
Assured Heating Essex is also expanding further into domestic air conditioning installation.
Previous air conditioning experience would be a big advantage. However, if you are already an excellent heating engineer with the right attitude and are keen and willing to learn air conditioning, full training can be provided.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced heating engineer who wants to add another valuable skill to their career.
Customer Service Matters
Technical ability is only part of the job.
We have built our reputation around providing an excellent customer experience, so we need someone who genuinely cares about customers and is prepared to go the extra mile.
You will be representing Assured Heating Essex in our customers' homes, so professionalism, communication, cleanliness and attention to detail are extremely important.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Servicing gas boilers
- Gas Safety / Landlord checks
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Boiler and heating system repairs
- Heating system maintenance
- Boiler installation work (not primary)
- Potential air conditioning installation work and training
Requirements
You must:
- Be ACS registered and appropriately qualified
- Have substantial experience in a similar Service & Breakdown position
- Hold a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
- Be confident working independently
- Have excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Have extremely high standards of workmanship
- Have a strong eye for detail
- Provide excellent customer service
3-Month Probation
The position will begin with a 3-month probationary period.
During this period, we will be looking closely at workmanship, technical ability, diagnostics, customer service, reliability, organisation and attention to detail.
Only engineers who demonstrate the high standards we expect will be taken forward into a permanent position.
