About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing business in Corby, who are looking for an experienced Heavy Assembly Supervisor.
This is a hands-on role supervising a production team while supporting the assembly of large mechanical products. You will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality and production targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team within a heavy assembly environment.
- Work hands-on alongside the team and lead by example.
- Ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with SOPs and specifications.
- Carry out team briefings, toolbox talks and safety checks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and quality.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching and support.
- Assist with training and maintain accurate training records.
- Manage resources, holidays and overtime to ensure production requirements are met.
- Promote a positive culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Experience Required
- Previous supervisory experience within manufacturing, production or heavy assembly.
- Strong mechanical assembly knowledge.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GA layouts.
- Understanding of BOMs, torque settings and fastening methods.
- Quality inspection and dimensional checking experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Hydraulics and pneumatics awareness would be advantageous.
- Experience supervising a team of 5+ would be desirable.
- At least 2 years' production/operations supervisory experience, ideally managing a team of 5 or more.
- Experience within conveyor, material handling or similar heavy mechanical assembly environments.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Engineering/Manufacturing.
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification.
- Level 3 qualification in Quality Assurance.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a practical, confident and organised supervisor who can motivate a production team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and output.
You will need to be comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, have good mechanical knowledge and be confident reading engineering drawings and ensuring work is completed to specification.
