An exciting opportunity for a Junior Sous Chef to join the team at Award-winning Stables Restaurant at Cantley House in Wokingham. As a Junior Sous Chef at Cantley House Hotel. you will be part of a fresh food led kitchen environment achieving high standards of culinary expectation for our members. This role provides an opportunity to create an exceptional dining experience within our busy and vibrant kitchens, using fresh and seasonal produce.

What are we looking for?
A Junior Sous Chef with imagination and flair is needed to join the talented team of this award winning restaurant. The Junior Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef on all sections to maintain the high standard of cuisine, train junior staff and ensure the quality is second to none.
Junior Sous Chef
- To ensure that all food preparation is made to a high standard
- To run and supervise any kitchen section to the required standards set by the Head Chef
- To assist with the ordering, preparation and serving of all foods requested by hotel guests and for hotel conferences and functions.
- To assist with ordering all food supplies as required by business levels
- To produce menus as required
- To ensure all kitchen equipment is kept clean and to report any faults accordingly
- To Deputize for the Head Chef in his absence
- To ensure all preparation of the designated section is complete and ready for each service
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications.
- To take ownership and ensure that the presentation, taste, texture and quantity are maintained to the standards laid by the Company.
- To be passionate in assist with the training, induction and development of the kitchen brigade.
- To control wastage and to help maintain food costs.
- To manage together with the Head Chef all aspects of kitchen. These would include staff, Health Safety, equipment, and any other areas connected with the Kitchen organisation.
- To assist as directed with the operation of various sections within the Kitchen
- Ability to operate all the kitchen equipment with the correct training in a safe and proper manner.
- Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards.
- Ensure that all food is stored in the correct manner and that stock rotation is properly carried out.
- To work towards and ensure a positive relationship exists between the Restaurant and the Kitchen, focusing on respect and teamwork.
- To constantly focus on guest care and service. Ensuring that everything that is done well improves and enhances the guest experience.

Requirements of Junior Sous Chef
- Previous experience working as a Junior Sous Chef in a busy kitchen environment.
- Great eye for detail and take pride in delivering beautiful and tasty food.
- Willing to work in different sections and have good all-round knowledge of a kitchen.
- Be organised and able to work under pressure.
- Team player essential with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Good attention to detail
- Proactive approach to service challenges
- Immaculate presentation standards in all that you do
- Good communication skills with colleagues at all levels
- Good standards of numeracy & literacy
