Amy’s House is a community focused charity dedicated to supporting children, young people and adults with complex needs, disabilities and social, emotional and mental health challenges. For over 20 years, we have worked closely with families, schools, local authorities and community partners to deliver meaningful support that responds to real needs within our community.
Role Overview
Due to continued growth at Littlewood’s Nurture Hub, we are recruiting Ten temporary Support Workers to join holiday team. Our hub offers a safe, nurturing environment for children with behavioural, complex and additional needs, helping them regulate emotions and have an opportunity to make new friends. We create a calm, inclusive space where every child feels understood, valued, and supported to thrive.
In this role, you will work with children who attend our holiday club helping them build the social, and emotional skills they need to succeed both in education and in wider life. You will play a key part in removing barriers to participation, ensuring every child can fully access our holistic offer.
Key Responsibilities
· Welcome children and young people into the space and ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
· Support the planning and delivery of activities, games, creative sessions, and outdoor experiences, including taking children to the park and other community spaces..
· Work with individuals and small groups, including those who are hard to reach or have additional needs.
· Mentor and coach young people, helping them build regulation skills, confidence, independence, and self‑awareness.
· Support children and young people with a range of needs, including those in care, at risk of exclusion, or involved with the justice system.
· Identify any issues young people may be facing and work with the wider team to address their needs.
· Collaborate with local authorities, schools, and other partners to deliver effective support.
· Assist the Management Team in ensuring young people have access to learning, enrichment, and outdoor developmental opportunities.
Essential Skills & Experience
· SEN experience is essential
· Clear Enhanced DBS for adults and young children
· Ability to build rapport and trust with young people from a range of backgrounds.
· Confident in leading games, activities, or group sessions.
· Understanding of safeguarding and the importance of creating a safe space.
· Empathetic, patient, and a good communicator.
Desirable:
· Experience supporting young people with behavioural challenges, special educational needs and complex needs.
