This is a mixed role for someone who is looking for variation in their job role and doesn't mind working in the warehouse, predominantly as a forklift driver and also willing to go out as a driver or drivers mate as and when required. There will be an opportunity to progress to a full time driver position, if a position becomes available and also to gain a HGV license.
Role:
As a Forklift Warehouse Operative you are responsible for the successful picking / packing of goods to be dispatched for next day delivery which includes orders for our daily deliveries via our beansprout routes, bulk customers and Channel Island customers. This role also includes, loading and unloading goods in, restocking our warehouses located at two sites, offloading containers, help load the beansprout vehicles and run loads to and from our other site at Princes Street.
As a relief driver you will be expected to cover other drivers when they are absent due to annual leave and absences. This is an opportunity to become customer facing and deliver the goods to the customers. As a driver you will be expected to first inspect your vehicle, ensuring it is safe to drive. Prepare your route by picking the chilled items and missing items, help load other vehicles that are due to be loaded before you and then go out on delivery.
When out on delivery, the driver will be expected to deliver the goods to the customer to their satisfaction and deliver a first class experience to them. Collect cash/cheque if required, complete paperwork and process with any returns or collections.
The Person:

· You are required to physically be able of lifting heavy goods, up to 25Kg. Manual handling training is mandatory.

Key responsibilities and task:
Warehouse
1. Driving a forklift, stock management. Maintaining the forklift in a good order and repot any defects found.
2. Picking and packing goods, ensure goods are picked in a timely manner without mistakes. All bulk pallets must be stacked safely and securely and within the perimeters of the pallet.
3. Ensuring the warehouse work environment is clean, tidy and clear of any hazards that may cause harm to yourself and others.
4. Report damaged and missing goods to your manager.
4. Willingness to cover driver and drivers mates as and when required.
4. Help offload containers
5. Treating goods with care and concern at all the time and help reduce damaged stock.
Driver
1. Pick a small portion of the goods for your route and help load other vehicles, including your own, ready for delivery that day.
2. Carry out daily driver checks to ensure the vehicle is safe and legal to drive before setting off.
3. Report any defects of the vehicle to the Transport Manager.
4. Deliver goods to customer’s premises in a timely manner and put the goods where they request.
5. Collect payment from the customers in the form of cash and cheques.
6. Offer a first class customer service experience to our customers and build good relationships with them.
7. Communicate with the sales team regarding the route you have been assigned to and discuss any issues that may arise.
8. You will be responsible for your own Health & Safety when at client’s premises and are expected to evaluate and manage each premises for any risks when delivering goods.
Remuneration
£28,000 - £32,300 annual salary with 28-30 days of annual leave and pension. Weekly driver bonus will be offered subject to targets.
Hours (This is a Monday to Friday + every Saturday or every other Saturday)
Monday to Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm, 1 hour unpaid break and overtime at hourly rate.
Saturday 7.00am - 11.00am paid at time and a half.
Bank holidays are classed as normal working days and can be taken in lieu. We do not work on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. You will be expected to work during the Christmas period which is one of our peak periods.
