A REWARDING CAREER THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
At St Andrew’s Hospice, we create a warm, caring environment where children, young people and their families are at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about making every day meaningful—providing compassionate care, creating special memories, and supporting families throughout their journey.
As a Nursing Assistant within Children’s Services, you will play a vital role in supporting children and their families by providing compassionate, holistic care within both the hospice and community. Working closely with Registered Nurses and a wider multidisciplinary team, you will help meet each child’s individual needs, attentively observing and responding to changes in their physical or emotional wellbeing.
You will build meaningful, trusting relationships with patients and their families, offering empathy, reassurance, and support during what can often be a very emotional time. The role includes assisting with personal care, supporting medication administration following training, maintaining accurate patient records, and promoting dignity, independence, and choice at all times.
You will also help create a comforting and engaging environment by supporting play and age-appropriate activities, while respecting each child’s beliefs, culture, and lifestyle. With a strong focus on communication, teamwork, and safety, you will contribute to delivering the highest standard of care while continuing to develop your skills and knowledge in children’s palliative care through ongoing learning and support
Flexibility is essential as the working hours are based on an internal rotation which includes, days, nights and weekends. The role also includes working in the community so access to a vehicle is essential, as is a full driving license.
In return we offer you:
· Competitive salary.
· Unsocial hours payments.
· High staff ratios.
· Contributory pension scheme
· Excellent annual leave
· Access to excellent staff benefits.
· Revalidation and Excellent CPD.
· Flexible working.
