Looking for a role where you can make a real difference every single day?
At Birmingham City Council, we’re on a mission to put children, young people and families at the heart of everything we do – and our SEND Advisory & Inclusion Service plays a key role in making that happen.
We’re looking for a motivated, organised and people‑focused Business Support Officer to join our dynamic team – supporting colleagues across SEND services and helping us deliver high-quality support where it matters most.
What you’ll be doing
No two days are the same – but here’s a flavour of what you can expect:
- Supporting the smooth running of the SEND Advisory & Inclusion Service
- Managing inboxes, queries and communication with schools, families and professionals
- Coordinating meetings, panels and key processes
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring data quality
- Providing proactive administrative support to busy teams delivering frontline services
In short, you’ll be the engine room that keeps everything running efficiently and professionally.
What we’re looking for
We’re not just looking for skills – we’re looking for someone who brings energy, positivity and a can‑do attitude:
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Confidence using systems, data and Microsoft Office
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
- A genuine interest in supporting SEND services and making a difference
If you enjoy problem-solving, supporting others and being part of a team that delivers for children and families – this is the role for you.
What’s in it for you?
- Flexible hybrid working (home + office based)
- A supportive and inclusive team environment
- Opportunities to develop, learn and progress
- The chance to contribute to meaningful work that impacts lives across Birmingham
A message from the Team
“We’re a friendly, supportive team who genuinely enjoy working together. It’s busy, fast-paced and rewarding – and every day you’ll know you’ve helped make a difference.”
