Job Title: Coffee Shop Assistant
Reporting to: Coffee Shop Manager
We are looking for a friendly and proactive Coffee Shop Assistant to join our front-of-house team. Our onsite eatery holds a 5-star VisitScotland rating and offers breakfast, coffee and tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring our high standards are consistently maintained.
This is a permanent, part-time role of 30 hours, working on a fully flexible basis. We are happy to offer flexibility with working hours for the right candidate.
Rate of pay for this role is £13.45 per hour.
Key duties:
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and create a positive first impression.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Answer customer questions about menu items and promotions.
- Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally and politely.
- Ensure every customer receives friendly and efficient service.
Food and Beverage Preparation
- Prepare hot and cold beverages, including coffees, teas, and speciality drinks.
- Serve food items in accordance with company standards.
- Follow recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies are low.
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are followed.
Cash Handling and Sales
- Operate the till and process customer payments accurately.
- Handle cash, card payments, and refunds in accordance with company procedures.
- Promote additional products and special offers when appropriate.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Keep customer seating areas clean and tidy at all times.
- Clean equipment, workstations, counters, and food preparation areas.
- Wash dishes and utensils as required.
- Follow opening and closing cleaning procedures.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained throughout the premises.
Team Support
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to maintain efficient service.
- Assist with deliveries and stock replenishment.
- Support new team members when required.
- Help maintain a positive and professional working environment.

Previous hospitality or retail experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
