Operations & Production Coordinator (Food Manufacturing)
We are a young food ingredients business based in London Colney, St Albans. We are looking for a reliable and highly organised individual to join our small team.
This is a hands-on, on-site role within a dried ingredients manufacturing unit, but also a development opportunity for someone who wants to progress into a key operational role within a fast-growing business.
You will start by working in production and dispatch while learning the business from the ground up. Over time, the role will expand into planning, stock control, ordering supplies and helping coordinate daily operations. We are looking for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, maintaining high standards, taking responsibility and finding practical solutions.
The exact days and start/finish times can be flexible to suit your routine, and there is a strong possibility of increasing these hours in the near future.
Key Responsibilities (initial stage)
- Handling and mixing ingredients and materials in a production environment (including occasional lifting up to 20-25kg with proper equipment support).
- Managing incoming/outgoing orders for dispatch (from small tubs in parcels, to sacks and pallets).
- Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Stock checking and basic organisation.
As You Grow in the Role
With training and experience, responsibilities will expand to include:
- Planning weekly production schedules.
- Administrative tasks related to product labelling, orders and production.
- Monitoring stock levels and identifying supply needs.
- Ordering supplies.
- Improving organisation and labelling systems.
- Coordinating casual production staff.
- Taking ownership of daily operational flow.
- Helping reduce day-to-day dependency on the founders.

- Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to take initiative.
- Reliable, consistent, and very precise in their work.
- Able to work at a fast pace in production, while remaining efficient under pressure.
- Comfortable working with numbers and basic computer knowledge.
- Looking for a long-term role, not just a short-term job.
What We Offer
- Part-time role: 24 hours per week (3 weekdays) at first stage.
- We offer a permanent contract following a successful initial trial period, and there is a strong possibility of increasing these hours in the near future.
- The exact days and start/finish times can be flexible to suit your routine, including school-run arrangements.
- Starting hourly rate from £12.72, with potential progression up to £14.30 based on performance and responsibility.
- Free on-site parking is available. Preference will be given to candidates with their own vehicle, as the public bus routes (602 and 84 bus lines on London Colney High Street) are only practical for those living locally.
