Join a highly profitable, privately owned Nottingham business offering genuine flexibility around your working week while maintaining senior-level career progression opportunities.
Salary: £70k - 75k per year + Bonus
Part-Time Finance Manager
Salary: Up to £75,000 FTE, pro rata
Bonus: Up to 10%
Location: Nottingham
Working pattern: Office-based, with flexible days and hours
Pension: 6% employer contribution
Progression: Genuine route to Finance Director
A senior finance role with genuine flexibility around your working week.
There are several ways this could work:
- Four full days per week
- Four days working reduced / school hours
- Five days working school hours, allowing for drop-off and pick-up
The exact start and finish times can be agreed around the right person.
It is still an office-based role in Nottingham, but rather than expecting somebody to fit around a rigid 9–5 structure, the business is happy to build the working pattern around the individual.
And importantly, the flexibility doesn't come at the expense of the opportunity.
This is a broad, senior Finance Manager role within a highly profitable, privately owned Nottingham business, with a genuine succession plan to Finance Director.
The opportunity
The business operates within a genuinely interesting specialist sector, with several different revenue streams and a strong track record of profitability and growth.
It's a relatively small organisation, which is part of the appeal.
You won't be one person in a large finance function. You'll be close to the numbers, close to the Managing Director and involved in the wider decisions being made across the business.
You'll work alongside the existing Finance Director, who is retiring at the end of Q1 2027, as part of a planned succession.
There will be a strong handover period, giving you time to understand the business properly before gradually taking on more responsibility.
The role
This is a broad role covering:
- Management accounts, budgeting and forecasting
- Cash flow, financial control and statutory reporting
- Payroll and wider finance operations
- Commercial support to the Managing Director
- Oversight of an experienced Credit Controller
You'll also gain exposure to acquisitions, shareholders, governance and wider commercial decisions.
Requirements
You'll need to be fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
The ideal person will be hands-on, commercially minded and comfortable working closely with an MD in a smaller business.
You don't need to have done every part of the role before. Strong fundamentals, curiosity and the confidence to take on new areas matter more.
The progression
There is a genuine route to Finance Director / Executive Director within the next three years, potentially sooner for the right person.
There may also be the opportunity to obtain shares in the business at a later date.
Benefits
- Up to £75,000 FTE salary, pro rata
- Up to 10% bonus
- 6% employer pension contribution
- 25 days' holiday, pro rata, with the option to buy a further 5
- Private medical insurance
- Death in service and permanent disability cover
- Free parking
Senior part-time finance opportunities with this level of breadth, flexibility and progression do not come around particularly often.
If you want to work four days, work around school drop-off and pick-up, or simply move away from a traditional five-day 9–5 structure without compromising your career, this is worth a conversation.
