About Fixation Academy
Fixation Academy is a children's performing arts company delivering high-quality dance, musical theatre and performing arts classes to children across North London.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and passionate Musical Theatre / Ballet Teacher to join our Saturday team in Barnet. This is a teaching role where you will be responsible for leading and delivering all four classes, creating fun, engaging and age-appropriate sessions for our younger students.
The Classes
You will be responsible for teaching the following Saturday timetable:
- 9:30am – 10:00am: Mini Movers Dance – Ages 3–5
- 10:15am – 10:45am: Baby Ballet – Ages 3–5
- 11:00am – 11:45am: Little Visions Musical Theatre – Ages 3–5
- 12:00pm – 12:45pm: Primary Ballet – Ages 5–7
The role involves teaching a mixture of ballet, dance and musical theatre, so we are looking for someone confident working across different performing arts disciplines and with younger children.
Your Responsibilities
As the Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering fun, engaging and age-appropriate classes.
- Creating a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Teaching children aged 3–7 with energy, patience and enthusiasm.
- Developing students' confidence, creativity and performing arts skills/technique.
- Managing the class effectively and maintaining positive behaviour.
- Adapting activities to suit different abilities and needs.
- Communicating professionally with the Fixation Academy team.
- Ensuring the class is delivered safely and professionally.
- Setting up and packing away any equipment or resources required.
- Working with the Teaching Assistant, where applicable, to ensure the sessions run smoothly.
- Preparing students for performances or showcases where appropriate.
You will need to arrive 15 minutes before the first session to sign in, meet the team, prepare the space and get set up before the children arrive.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced in teaching dance, ballet and/or musical theatre.
- Confident teaching young children aged 3–7.
- Energetic, enthusiastic and nurturing.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Creative and able to make classes fun and engaging.
- Confident managing a class independently.
- Passionate about helping children develop their confidence and performing arts skills.
- Comfortable adapting teaching styles to different ages and abilities.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a wider team.
A relevant performing arts qualification, teaching experience and/or professional performing arts background is desirable.
