Step4ward Services offer 24/7 staffed placements to young people aged 16-25, that are considered in need of some support towards independent living. The service is based on the idea, that young people will be able to work with the staff and other people who use the service to reach their goals. We make a particular point of encouraging and enabling young people to access and join in with the community.
The 16+ team is a dedicated group of individuals who will work alongside young people to offer support and guidance in all the key areas needed to help prepare for adult life. These people have been carefully chosen because they are specially trained and committed in helping young people make the steps from being ‘looked after’ to leaving care and achieving independence.

Key Skills
A Support Worker must be able to:
- Support young people to develop independent living skills.
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Listen, encourage, and provide appropriate guidance.
- Maintain accurate, factual, and timely records.
- Use good recording skills to complete daily logs, reports, support plans, and incident records.
- Be computer literate and confidently use IT systems, email, and electronic recording systems.
- Assess and manage risk appropriately.
- Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns without delay.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, professionals, families, and partner agencies.
- Lone work safely and complete all required daily tasks.
- Be a positive role model and promote positive behaviour.
Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Good standard of spoken and written English.
- Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts.
- Understanding of the Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023 and Quality Standards.
- Experience in working with Children and/or Young People.
This position are advertised for days and ‘sleep in duties’, that will finish the next morning.
The working patterns are as follows:
You will be expected to work 30 hours per week which work could fall between Monday and Sunday. Usual shift pattern is from 09:00 to 23:00, sleep-in between 23:00 to 08:00, next morning from 08:00 to 09:30am. Shift pattern may vary.
Pay - £12.71 per hour plus £35 per sleep.
