Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, proactive and versatile individual to join our dynamic team. This dual focus, multifaceted position focuses primarily on the on site installation and dismantling of exhibition stands across the UK, Europe and beyond. When not travelling for installations, you will play a vital role at our production facility in Hanley (Stoke-on-Trent), alternating between the in house production of custom exhibition graphics and components & handling warehouse operations and logistics. This role requires flexibility, practical competence and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stand Building & On-Site Installations (Primary Focus)
- Complete the full installation, setup and dismantle process of exhibition stands at various prominent venues across the UK and Europe.
- Safely and efficiently load, transport and unload build materials, structural components, graphics and furniture to and from event locations.
- Assemble and install complex exhibition structures, custom fabrics, rigid graphics and promotional furniture precisely according to provided design drawings.
- Maintain an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship, structural integrity and attention to detail throughout all build and finishing processes.
- Act professionally on-site at all times, serving as a positive representative of the company in front of clients, venue staff and contractors.
- Work closely and collaboratively with senior installation team members to ensure strict venue deadlines and client expectations are met.
2. Production Assistance (Workshop-Based)
- Assist in the preparation and fabrication of bespoke custom stand elements using basic woodwork, cutting and assembly skills.
- Conduct meticulous quality assurance checks on all printed, finished and fabricated materials prior to dispatch.
- Carefully pack finished items to avoid transit damage and ensure they are ready for delivery or immediate on-site deployment.
- Support general maintenance and cleaning of production equipment, tools and work environments.
3. Warehouse Assistance & Logistics
- Accurately pick, verify and pack components and tools required for specific contracts to ensure install teams are fully equipped before site departure.
- Keep warehouse logistics areas organised, clean and meticulously aligned with company safety regulations.
- Strictly adhere to and enforce the company's health and safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- Experience: Previous background in the exhibitions sector, shop-fitting, large-format print environments or construction is highly beneficial, but not strictly essential. Full in house training will be provided for specific machinery, tools and printing systems.
- Practical Capability: Strong hands on mechanical aptitude, competence using hand/power tools and an active eagerness to master new technical skills.
- Core Attributes: Superb organisational skills, an exceptional eye for detail and the capability to work independently or seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team.
- Driving Licence: A full, valid manual UK driving licence is strictly essential for transporting equipment and vehicles to venues.
- Scheduling Flexibility: Total availability and scheduling flexibility are required due to the dynamic and non-traditional working hours fundamental to the exhibition and events industry. Working hours vary week to week and regular weekend work will be necessary. Advance notice of schedules is typically provided 2 or more weeks beforehand.
Working Schedule & Compensation
- Weekly Split: Highly variable depending on seasonal demand and active event schedules. An average week involves approximately 2 days of travel/on site installation and 3 days stationed at the Hanley (Stoke-on-Trent) production facility. However, a working week can fluctuate between 5 days on site or 5 days purely in the workshop/warehouse.
- Financial Growth: Base wage will scale dynamically in accordance with your growing experience level and skill progression. Extensive and regular overtime opportunities are available throughout the year, enabling overall potential annual earnings to reach £30,000 - £35,000.
- Hours & Setting: Shift structures include flexitime, standard Monday through Friday operations, required weekend availability and overtime hours. This role is strictly in person, there is no option for remote or hybrid work, it is essential that you are within commutable distance to our production facility based in Hanley (Stoke-on-Trent).
