Job Description:
Justteachers is currently recruiting a dedicated Behavioural Mentor & Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a forward-thinking Special Needs Secondary School in Hinckley, starting September 2026 or ASAP. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting students with a range of special educational and emotional needs (SEN), including dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD. You will work closely with teaching staff across departments to foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support as well as targeted 1:1 and small group withdrawal sessions.
- Differentiate tasks, clarify instructions, and scaffold pupil understanding to promote independent learning.
- Support students with study skills, organisation, and emotional well-being both inside and outside the classroom.
- Contribute to SEN reviews, EHCP targets, and liaise effectively with families and external professionals.
- Help develop inclusive strategies and resources across the curriculum to support diverse learning needs.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils and encourage confidence and engagement.
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience supporting students with SEN/SEMH in a secondary school setting.
- A professional, empathetic, and approachable manner with a flexible, can-do attitude.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with both students and staff.
- A genuine passion for making education accessible and enjoyable for all pupils.
- A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
