Who we are:
Roba Metals was founded in Netherlands in 1937. Today the Roba group of companies has roots throughout the metal industry in Europe: foundries, master alloys, semi-manufactured products, metal recycling. The UK operation specialises in trading and processing non-ferrous scrap metal for foundries worldwide.
What we are looking for:
Due to ongoing expansion we have opportunities for warehouse operatives to join our operations team in our new site in Smethwick. You will join a small team of operatives in an industrial environment, using mobile and fixed plant machinery to process non-ferrous metals. The job may involve a variety of roles and may include a manual handling component.
Job Functions:
- Operate fixed and mobile material handling equipment including forklift, material scrap handler, wheel loader, skidsteer etc.
- Operate static processing machinery including baler, shredder, shear etc.
- Receive, inspect, organise, store and rotate materials
- Keep warehouses and yard areas clean and orderly
- Load and unload vehicles using mobile plant equipment
- Maintain a safe working environment by complying with safety rules, guidelines and regulations
- Maintain an excellent work record by following instructions, standards and procedures
Skills:
- Experience of working in an industrial environment preferred
- Recent forklift truck training certificate advantageous
- Experience of metal recycling, waste industry or other mobile plant driving potentially beneficial
- Good communication skills to interact with coworkers
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 Kg) and stand for extended periods
- Hard-working and flexible with good attention to detail
- Punctuality and reliability

Working Hours:
06:30 – 16:00 Monday – Thursday
06:30 – 14:00 Friday
- 45.5 hour working week
- Overtime usually available
