We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee to join our Payroll department in Newton Abbot!
As a trainee, you will learn how the payroll department works and the day to day running, have full instruction on our payroll software, attend relevant courses and provide administrative support to the team. As a successful firm of Chartered Accountants, we provide payroll services for our clients including pension, RTI, and CIS support. We have had recent progression within the team therefore we are looking for someone new to join and begin their career.

This role would be great for a school leaver or someone who wishes to start their payroll career.
- Assist in the general activities of the payroll team to include training, to enable you to assist in payroll preparation for our clients
- Ensuring timesheet is accurate and completed on time each week
- Understand the business and how accountancy practices run
- Provide general administrative support to the payroll team to include filing, data entry, typing and assisting in the management of communications and paperwork
- Assist the team to make improvements and implement required changes
- Liaise with clients and third parties under supervision
- Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with your work
- Immediately report problems that may impact on the organisation or our clients
- Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls
- Contribute towards the smooth running of the team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload in a timely manner while all the time ensuring we exceed client expectations
- No former experience required
- Ability to show initiative and work within a team
- Ability to show good client relationships
- To be comfortable with Microsoft office, including Excel (or be willing to undertake training)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to build rapport with people at various levels
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload in a timely manner while all the time ensuring we exceed client expectations
- Candidates must have 5 GCSE’s at A-C, or equivalent 4-9 including Maths and English
