Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our friendly and compassionate team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about animal health and welfare to gain hands‑on experience in a busy clinical environment. You will support our veterinary surgeons and nurses with daily clinical tasks, patient care, and basic laboratory procedures, helping us deliver high‑quality care to every animal that comes through our doors.
Key Duties
- Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses during clinical procedures, including preparing patients for examinations and treatments
- Support with administering medications and treatments under supervision
- Carry out basic laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing tests, and maintaining accurate records
- Provide care and comfort to hospitalised patients, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their wellbeing
- Maintain a clean, organised clinical environment and follow all health and safety protocols
- Handle administrative duties such as updating patient records and scheduling appointments
- Offer guidance to pet owners on basic animal care and post‑treatment instructions (under veterinary direction)
- Provide reception cover when required
Skills & Experience
- Previous veterinary or laboratory experience is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexible and able to adapt within a fast‑paced practice
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and delivering high‑quality care
Requirements
- Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to London SW11 3RA
- GCSE or equivalent
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
