Job Description:
We are looking to recruit a part time (24 hours minimum per week - Monday to Friday) Pharmacy Counter Assistant to work as part of a small team. Rate of pay will be in line with the National Minimum Wage and depending on experience. Regular shifts will be:
MONDAY 9AM-6PM
TUESDAY 9AM - 6PM
FRIDAY 9AM - 6PM
Ideally the candidate should be qualified as a Medicines counter assistant, however we are happy to train applicants who are keen to learn and are enthusiastic about healthcare. Candidate should be willing to work extra hours (up to a maximum of 40 hours per week) when required to cover holidays etc. HOURS OF WORK ARE BETWEEN 9AM - 6PM (NO WEEKENDS OR LATE NIGHTS) Previous experience in retail and cash handling is essential. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about healthcare who wish to contribute positively to patient/ customer outcomes while developing their professional expertise within a supportive environment.
Role is varied and will include:
- Selling OTC and Pharmacy Only medicines and advising patients on any questions they may have.
- Giving healthcare advice using the WWHAM questions and offering advice on treatments.
- Taking in and handing out prescriptions.
- Experience handling money and maintaining financial records (ESSENTIAL)
- Experience working in retail environment (ESSENTIAL)
- Checking in stock and deliveries and reordering stock from a variety of suppliers.
- Counsel and advise patients on the treatment of minor ailments.
- Keeping shop area clean and tidy
- Assist other pharmacy staff in the smooth running of the Pharmacy
- Answering telephone calls
