We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Skilled Operative with an LGV licence to join our team in Boroughbridge. If you're looking to take the next step in your highways career, this permanent role offers stability, development, and the chance to make a real impact in North Yorkshire.
As a Skilled Operative, you’ll work alongside experienced colleagues to deliver essential infrastructure improvements. From kerbing and drainage to traffic management and emergency callouts, your skills will help keep North Yorkshire moving.
What you’ll be doing
As part of a supportive, experienced team, you’ll help maintain and improve the local highway network, carrying out a wide range of routine and seasonal works, including:
- Kerbing, drainage, patching & ironwork repairs
- Street furniture installation & general site maintenance
- Traffic management and verge upkeep
- Operate highways plant & equipment
- Drive LGV vehicles over 7.5 tonnes (safety checks included)
- Join the out‑of‑hours rota for emergencies & winter maintenance
This is a hands‑on, outdoor role, working in all weathers. Full PPE and outdoor clothing is provided.

We’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience in highways tasks or highways plant operation
- Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Relevant Level 2 qualification in highway maintenance or equivalent experience
- Traffic Management TM1 and TM2
