Job Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Catering Equipment Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join our long-established, family-run business based in Exeter.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer to install, commission and hand over a wide range of commercial gas and electrical catering equipment across the catering, hospitality and public sectors. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality installations, ensuring all equipment is installed safely, commissioned correctly and handed over professionally to our customers.
This is a field-based role covering Exeter, Devon and the surrounding areas, offering a varied workload, excellent earning potential and ongoing manufacturer training.
Role Overview
- Installation, commissioning and handover of a wide range of commercial gas and electrical catering equipment
- Working on new kitchen installations, refurbishments and replacement projects across the catering, hospitality and public sectors
- Interpreting installation drawings and manufacturers' specifications
- Connecting gas, electrical and water services in accordance with current regulations and manufacturers' requirements
- Testing and commissioning equipment to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operation
- Carrying out customer demonstrations and operational handovers following successful installation
- Completing commissioning certificates and all associated installation documentation
- Working closely with customers, contractors and project managers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the highest standard
- Field-based role covering Exeter, Devon and the surrounding areas
- Provide assistance to service department when required
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Overtime opportunities available
- Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on project location
Requirements
- COMCAT 1, 3 & 5 qualifications (essential)
- Proven experience installing and commissioning commercial catering equipment
- Good working knowledge of commercial gas and electrical catering appliances
- Ability to interpret installation drawings and manufacturers' technical specifications
- Experience carrying out equipment commissioning, testing and customer handovers
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Strong practical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Good understanding of current gas safety and electrical regulations
- Full UK driving licence
- Reside within Devon or Somerset
- Basic computer literacy for completing digital job reports and commissioning documentation
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Professional, reliable and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship
