The Role
The Covert Tester is responsible for the execution of covert and overt testing operations across airports, Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), transportation hubs, and other high-profile or sensitive locations. The role requires the Tester to deploy as part of a Test Team to deliver tests to assess security effectiveness, compliance, operational readiness, and vulnerability exposure within complex and challenging environments.
The Covert Tester will have experience within the security sector, be professional with excellent judgement, and the ability to operate discreetly, professionally, and effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting CT activity in accordance with the briefing, approved scenario and test parameters
- Assist with operational planning, risk assessments, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Support the development and continuous improvement of covert and overt testing methodologies, procedures, and best practices
- Recognise foreseeable risks, including exposure, misidentification, public interaction, safety concerns, loss of control and documentation failures
- Maintain secure, discreet and timely communication and must produce accurate, objective and audit-ready records
- Noting observations accurately and objectively, including timings, responses, relevant conditions and any deviation from plan
- Reporting any incident, compromise, challenge, reveal action, loss of control, welfare issue, communication failure or safety concern immediately to the Test Controller
- Participating fully in hot debrief, formal debrief and any post-activity clarification required for accurate reporting
Skills & Experience
- Experience within covert testing, aviation security, protective security, law enforcement, military, or related security environments
- Proven experience in working as part of a team within high-risk, sensitive, or operationally complex environments
- An understanding of airport security operations, CNI security protocols, and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Experience in report writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and level-headed while under pressure
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
Working Environment
- This is an operational role requiring frequent travel to client and operational sites. The position involves working flexible hours, including nights or weekends, and bank holidays, to perform realistic covert testing in active environments
