Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Volunteers to assist in supporting children with special educational needs. Duties
- Support children with autism and other disabilities during classroom activities and social interactions
- Assist teachers in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies
- Provide one-on-one support to children with diverse learning needs, including toddlers and young children
- Aid in organising and facilitating engaging learning activities tailored to each child's abilities
- Promote inclusive participation by encouraging communication and social skills development
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times, adhering to health and safety guidelines
- Assist with basic care routines such as helping children with their personal hygiene or mobility when necessary
- Maintain a positive, patient, and encouraging environment to foster confidence and independence in learners
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable
- Prior teaching or support experience within special education settings is advantageous
- Ability to work effectively with children of various ages, including toddlers
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly and empathetically with children, parents, and staff
- Organised approach to managing multiple tasks while maintaining patience and professionalism
- A genuine passion for supporting inclusive education and making a difference in children's lives
- Flexibility to adapt support strategies according to individual needs and circumstances
