We are looking for an experienced Installation Operative to join our great team of on-site installers of insulated coldrooms and freezer rooms within our clients' premises, in a range of commercial and industrial environments.
This is a hands-on role — you will be expected to lead by example on site, set standards, manage installs safely and efficiently, and represent Scandia professionally in front of customers and other contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation of insulated coldroom and freezer rooms.
- Set out rooms accurately from drawings and site surveys.
- Supervise and support installation operatives and work-mates on site.
- Ensure installs are completed safely, cleanly, and to a high standard.
- Install doors, trims, flashings, thermal breaks, supports and protections.
- Coordinate with refrigeration engineers, site managers, and other trades.
- Identify and resolve site issues as they arise.
- Maintain site safety, adhere to RAMS compliance, and good housekeeping.
- Report progress, variations, and issues clearly to the office team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience installing commercial coldrooms / freezer rooms
- Strong understanding of insulated panel systems (composite panels, trims, fixings)
- Ability to lead a small site team and keep jobs moving
- Confident reading drawings and working from dimensions
- Good practical problem-solving skills on live construction sites
- Strong attitude to safety and quality
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to work away from home when required
Desirable:
- Forklift / IPAF / PASMA tickets
- Basic electrical awareness
- SSSTS or similar site supervision qualification
