Overview
UK Food Packaging is seeking an experienced Account Director / Senior Account Manager to lead and grow our most strategic customer relationships in the FMCG food packaging sector. This is a senior, high-impact role for a commercially astute leader who can own a portfolio of key accounts, set account strategy, and drive sustained revenue and margin growth — while mentoring and setting the standard for the wider account management team.
Based at our Waltham Cross HQ, you'll be the senior point of contact for our most important clients: shaping long-term partnerships, leading major negotiations, and identifying the next wave of growth. Proficiency in one or more Asian languages (such as Urdu or Mandarin) is highly desirable, enabling effective communication with clients and suppliers across diverse markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of a portfolio of the company's largest and most strategic accounts, acting as the senior, director-level point of contact.
- Set and execute account strategies that deliver long-term growth, retention, and profitability.
- Own revenue, margin, and forecasting targets across your portfolio, with clear accountability for commercial performance.
- Lead high-value contract, pricing, and service negotiations with senior client stakeholders.
- Mentor, coach, and support account managers, raising capability and standards across the team.
- Partner at a senior level with supply chain, production, and design teams to shape innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions.
- Identify, pursue, and win major new business opportunities within the FMCG food packaging industry.
- Provide market intelligence and competitor analysis to inform commercial and product strategy.
- Represent UK Food Packaging at industry events, exhibitions, and trade shows as a senior brand ambassador.
- Maintain a robust pipeline and accurate account data using CRM and ERP systems.
Experience & Requirements
- Substantial experience in senior account management, sales, or business development — ideally within FMCG packaging for the food sector.
- Proven track record of managing large, strategic accounts and consistently exceeding revenue and margin targets.
- Strong leadership qualities, with experience mentoring or managing others (a distinct advantage).
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills at senior/board level.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and at least one Asian language (e.g. Urdu, Mandarin, Hindi, or Cantonese) preferred.
- Deep familiarity with packaging materials such as films, cartons, wraps, and containers.
- Highly organised and commercially sharp, comfortable owning P&L-level responsibility.
- Results-driven, autonomous, and a natural relationship-builder.
