Delivery Driver/ Warehouse Operative
Overview
We are a rapidly growing family-run business specialising in high-quality hire furniture for large-scale events across the UK. We are seeking a reliable, conscientious Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our operations team.
This role is predominantly driving, delivering, and collecting furniture from event venues nationwide. When not on the road, you will support the warehouse team with preparing, loading, and maintaining stock. The successful candidate will also provide occasional administrative support to the Warehouse Manager, including assisting with transport bookings and logistics coordination when required.
The ideal candidate will take exceptional care when handling furniture, communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, and have a positive “can-do” attitude. This role is ideal for a motivated individual seeking a hands-on position within a busy environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDriving & Delivery Duties
- Safely drive company vehicles (typically long-wheelbase vans) to deliver and collect furniture from event locations across the country.
- Ensure all items are handled with great care to avoid damage or marking during transit.
- Carry out timely, efficient deliveries while maintaining a professional and courteous approach with customers and venue staff.
- Complete all delivery and collection paperwork accurately.
- Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and vehicles to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any issues promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company driving standards.
Warehouse Duties
- Assist in picking, preparing, and loading furniture and equipment for outgoing orders.
- Help receive, check, and store incoming deliveries according to company procedures.
- Handle all furniture with a high level of care, ensuring surfaces, fabrics, and finishes remain clean and undamaged.
- Maintain a tidy, safe working environment and comply with all health and safety regulations.
Transport & Administrative Support
- Provide occasional support to the Warehouse Manager with transport bookings and logistics coordination.
- Use internal systems, emails, and spreadsheets to assist with operational planning where required.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, drivers, and colleagues regarding transport arrangements and scheduling.
General
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve operational efficiency.
- Participate in training and development as required.
- Undertake occasional ad-hoc tasks and reasonable duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in a professional driving role.
- Computer literate and comfortable using emails, spreadsheets, and internal systems.
- Previous experience within transport, logistics, or route planning would be advantageous.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early starts, late finishes, evenings, and weekends, depending on event schedules. Standard hours are 7:30 – 17:00.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting and moving heavy furniture safely and efficiently.
- Able to handle long periods of standing, walking, or lifting during shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of care.
- Forklift licence and previous warehouse experience are highly desirable (training can be provided).
