Domestic Assistant
Location: Hampton Manor Care Home, Consett
Hours: 24 hours per week (3 x 8-hour shifts)
Shift Pattern: 7:30am – 4:00pm, working on a rolling rota Monday to Sunday, including weekends.
Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking Domestic Assistant to join our team at Hampton Manor Care Home.
As a Domestic Assistant, you will play an important role in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors and colleagues. Your work will help ensure our home remains comfortable, hygienic and maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean resident bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the home, including lounges, dining areas, corridors and staff facilities.
- Follow cleaning schedules and infection prevention and control procedures.
- Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals in accordance with company policies.
- Report any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns to the appropriate person.
- Ensure cleaning supplies are stored safely and stock levels are maintained.
- Treat residents with dignity, kindness and respect, promoting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Work effectively as part of the wider care home team.
About You

- Works well as part of a team.
- Is flexible and willing to work a rolling rota, including weekends.
Previous cleaning experience, particularly within a care, healthcare or commercial environment, would be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
DBS Requirement
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role and will be completed for the successful candidate.
Applicants who already hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service are particularly encouraged to apply, as this may help to speed up the recruitment process.
