Job Purpose
The Production Operator is responsible for manufacturing high-quality products safely, efficiently, and to the required production standards. Working as part of the production team, the role involves operating machinery, assembling components, carrying out quality inspections, and ensuring production targets are met while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assemble products and components in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
- Conduct routine quality inspections and report any defects or non-conformances.
- Monitor production output and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Read and follow technical drawings, specifications, and standard operating procedures where required.
- Perform basic machine adjustments and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
- Ensure materials are handled correctly to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
- Keep workstations clean, organised, and compliant with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support production operations.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
- Ability to work to production targets and deadlines.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
Desirable
- Experience operating manufacturing machinery.
- Experience within sheet metal, roller shutter, garage door, or industrial door manufacturing.
- Counterbalance or Reach Forklift Licence.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials in line with manual handling guidelines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working Hours
Working hours will be in accordance with Aluroll's production requirements and may include shift work, overtime, or flexible working hours as required.
