Overview
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Maintenance Apprentice (Modern or Graduate Level) to kick-start a career in the vital field of industrial maintenance! This paid apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled technicians while earning a recognised qualification ranging from a practical SVQ (Modern Apprenticeship) up to a full BEng (Hons) Degree (Graduate Apprenticeship) depending on your entry level.
You will develop essential skills across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems. You'll be an integral part of ensuring operational efficiency by assisting with routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, and learning industry best practices. Responsibilities
- Support Maintenance & Performance: Assist with routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot Complex Systems: Support the diagnostics and repair of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Master Automation Basics: Learn to operate, program, and configure programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated control systems under professional mentorship.
- Interpret Engineering Designs: Help interpret, update, and modify schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to solve live engineering issues.
- Hands-on Fabrications: Participate in, oversee, or evaluate welding activities and mechanical repairs as directed by senior engineering staff.
- Maintain Records: Accurately log and record maintenance activities, inspections, logs, and repairs performed to track equipment history.
- Promote Workplace Safety: Contribute to a safe work environment by strictly following safety protocols, reporting hazards, and assisting with risk assessments.
Requirements
- Technical Passion: Strong interest in mechanical and electrical systems with a clear desire to develop technical skills and engineering knowledge.
- Logical Mindset: Basic understanding or strong conceptual interest in engineering drawings, schematics, and automated control systems.
- Practical Awareness: Experience or familiarity with engineering tools, welding techniques, or manufacturing environments is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong Communication: Good communication skills in English, with the ability to follow technical instructions clearly and collaborate effectively.
- Proactive Growth: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with a natural curiosity for how machinery works and how to fix it.
- Leadership Potential: A proactive approach to teamwork, with the leadership qualities required to take ownership of tasks as you progress.

Pay: £8.00-£12.75 per hour
