Job Summary
We are seeking two motivated and enthusiastic Basketball Coaches to teach at a Primary School in Andover. The successful candidates will already each have a DBS, due to timeframe, and it may suit someone who can drive or lives close-by. You’ll be free Wednesday afternoons as you’d be responsible for developing players’ skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive sporting environment for Wednesdays Basketball. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who already has a DBS and teaching experience, to start immediately after Easter. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a genuine interest in sports coaching and teaching. You may be self-employed but this is not vital.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging basketball training sessions tailored to different age groups and skill levels
- Develop customised coaching programmes to improve individual and team performance
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for all participants
- Provide constructive feedback to players to support their development
- Organise friendly matches and tournaments to enhance practical experience
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety standards and promote fair play
- Maintain equipment and ensure the training area is safe, organised, and clean
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and programme organisers regarding progress and upcoming events
Experience
- You have an enhanced DBS and previous experience in sports coaching, preferably basketball and can start immediately - available Wednesdays
- Proven ability in teaching or mentoring individuals or groups of varying ages and abilities
- Knowledge of basketball techniques, rules, and strategies is desirable but not essential if willing to learn
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging training sessions
- Able to support recruitment and work with our company
- Passionate about sports education with excellent communication skills
