SolidCor is on a mission to make volume fire door replacement possible within days — enabling the industry to rapidly achieve compliance and community safety in every building. Born out of the urgent need for change following the Grenfell disaster, we have built the fastest production times in the industry and the widest range of primary-tested fire door configurations. We are growing fast and we are looking for A-players to help us get there.
We are passionate about getting things right and obsessed with quality. Our products are safety critical — when a fire door fails, the consequences are real. That is why quality and delivery are non-negotiable here.
We are looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of live projects from instruction through to completion — managing programmes, clients, and delivery teams to ensure every job lands on time, on budget, and to the standard our clients expect. This is a client-facing, hands-on role at the centre of a busy delivery operation. If you thrive on keeping multiple projects moving simultaneously, take pride in doing things properly, and want to be part of a business genuinely committed to saving lives — read on.
-
Take full ownership of projects from instruction to completion — managing programme, budget, quality, and client relationships throughout.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on live projects, providing regular progress updates and managing expectations professionally and proactively.
- Plan and coordinate resources — internal teams, subcontractors, and supply chain — ensuring the right people and materials are in the right place at the right time.
- Monitor project programmes, identify risks and delays early, and take swift action to keep delivery on track.
- Manage project finances — tracking costs, approving variations, and ensuring each project delivers against its commercial targets.
- Ensure all works comply with relevant health and safety requirements, method statements, risk assessments, and SolidCor’s internal standards.
- Chair and attend project meetings, producing clear minutes and action logs and holding all parties accountable to agreed timelines.
- Liaise with the factory and production team to ensure fire door supply is aligned with site programme requirements.
- Identify and develop further opportunities arising from existing client relationships, feeding pipeline back to the commercial team.
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery — identifying lessons learned and working with the wider team to embed better ways of working.
-
An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a construction, fire safety, or compliance environment.
- Strong commercial awareness — able to manage budgets, control costs, and identify risk and variation.
- Confident, credible client-facing skills — able to build relationships and manage expectations at all levels.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills — comfortable holding multiple workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders at once.
- Solid understanding of health and safety requirements in a construction or field service environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to produce clear reports, minutes, and correspondence under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 — particularly Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Project or equivalent.
- Chesterfield office-based and available full time.
- Full UK driving licence (preferable).
Nice to Have
- Experience in fire door installation, passive fire protection, or a related life safety discipline.
- PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent project management qualification.
- Familiarity with SimPRO or a similar job management system.
This is a chance to take ownership of a growing project portfolio at one of the UK’s most exciting fire door manufacturers — with real autonomy, strong commercial backing, and direct impact on the safety of residents across the country. At SolidCor, we ask a lot — and we give a lot back. The hours are real, the standards are high and the work is demanding, but for those who show up, deliver and go the extra mile, the rewards follow. A-players here enjoy a competitive salary, a Personal Development Plan with ongoing training and mentoring, unlimited holiday, a bonus scheme paying up to 50% of annual salary, private medical insurance, enhanced maternity and paternity, lunch, snacks and refreshments on us every day (fresh fruit and Takeaway Friday included), a team social budget, cycle to work, an auto-enrolment pension, two major company events a year and our Reward and Recognition scheme — including European mini-breaks for those who go above and beyond. It is a collaborative, high-energy environment focused on doing things the right way — and none of it is a perk for showing up; it’s what we share with the people pulling the business forward.
