Experienced Bartender – The Mayfair Pub & Kitchen, Newcastle City Centre
The Mayfair Pub & Kitchen is recruiting experienced bartenders at our busy city‑centre venue, a go‑to spot for Newcastle home games, midweek karaoke, and big weekend nights out. You will help create a fun, welcoming atmosphere while delivering high standards of service and drink quality.
Role overview
You will use your bartending skills to prepare great drinks, look after guests, and keep service flowing smoothly in a lively, fast‑paced bar trading until 2am at weekends. A friendly, outgoing and positive attitude is essential, as you will be at the heart of the guest experience.
Key duties
- Prepare and serve a full range of alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks to spec and in good time.
- Take orders, make recommendations based on guest preferences, and engage with customers in a professional, upbeat manner.
- Keep the bar clean, tidy and well organised, including glassware, equipment and garnishes.
- Monitor guest behaviour, check IDs and promote responsible alcohol service in line with licensing laws.
- Restock products and consumables, rotate stock, and flag low items to the team.
- Handle cash and card payments accurately and manage tabs where required.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working as a bartender in a bar, pub or similar fast‑paced venue.
- Strong hospitality mindset, with confidence engaging a diverse mix of guests and building rapport.
- Proven ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and prioritise during busy periods such as match days and weekend nights.
- Basic understanding of food handling, hygiene and safety procedures.
- Cocktail knowledge and experience are an advantage, with willingness to learn house serves and specials.
