Semiconductor Processing Technician

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the delivery of KNT contracts using their experience and skill in semiconductor processing and wafer handling. The successful candidate will follow complex processes with sufficient care, skill and attention to detail in order to maximise yield and quality.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Semiconductor Processing Technician, your main duties and responsibilities are to perform the following activities:
- Make nanofabricated products and prototypes in the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre.
- Follow processing procedures safely, carefully and diligently.
- Inspect processing results and record data as appropriate.
- Manage time and project work by planning out equipment bookings with respect to priorities and deadlines, flagging problems early with the KNT engineering team in order to efficiently reorganise work plans.
- Handle fragile wafers and samples and work to continuously improve handling procedures.
- Ensure safe personal working practices by learning and following all appropriate JWNC safety procedures.
- Take part in project reviews and support the engineering team where processing feedback is required to improve processes or solve problems.
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of KNT’s quality management system (QMS).
- Engage in personal, professional and career development, to enhance both specialist and transferable skills in accordance with desired career trajectory.
- Undertake any other duties of equivalent standing.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
1. Undergraduate degree, VQ4 or equivalent in a relevant subject with relevant formal training, plus work experience in a relevant technical role, or evidence of progression and development gained through relevant work experience.
2. Demonstrable practical experience of:
- Wafer handling.
- Micro or nanofabrication processing.
- Semiconductor processing in an R&D or industrial cleanroom.
- Lithographic patterning & pattern transfer.
- Wet chemical processing.
- Experience of microscopy techniques.
Desirable:
1. Experience of risk assessment preparation.
2. Working knowledge of a QMS like ISO9001.
Skills
Essential:
1. Proven skills in operating standard fabrication and metrology tools.
2. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), and ability to communicate complex data/concepts clearly and concisely.
3. Demonstrable IT and data analysis/interpretation skills.
Terms and Conditions
- Starting salary range £28k to £35k depending on qualifications and experience.
- Full time
- Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
- Contributory Career Average Pension scheme
- New employees will serve a 6-month probationary period.
