Maintenance Surveyor – Housing Repairs & Building Services
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: 6+ Month Contract, with the possibility of an extension

We're recruiting a Maintenance Surveyor to join a busy Housing Repairs & Building Services team. This is a field-based, technical role where you'll be responsible for inspecting housing properties, diagnosing building defects, and specifying effective repair solutions to ensure homes are safe, compliant, and well maintained.
If you have strong technical surveying experience, enjoy problem-solving in a housing repairs environment, and can manage cases from inspection through to completion, this could be a great opportunity.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Surveyor, you'll carry out responsive repair inspections across a range of housing properties, ensuring defects are correctly identified and resolved in line with legislation, standards, and contract requirements.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out responsive repair inspections across housing properties
- Identifying building defects and determining appropriate remedial actions
- Preparing clear and detailed specifications for repair works in line with legislation and standards
- Undertaking site inspections before, during, and after works to ensure quality and compliance
- Managing and monitoring repair works, escalating issues where required
- Obtaining and assessing quotations and estimates in line with procurement procedures
- Reviewing costs, variations, and specifications to ensure value for money
- Maintaining regular communication with residents and stakeholders regarding case progress
- Responding to enquiries and providing updates via phone, email, and text
- Reporting progress and findings to the Contract Manager as required
Requirements
We're looking for someone experienced, detail-focused, and confident working independently in a surveying and repairs environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Building or Maintenance Surveyor within a repairs environment
- Experience conducting pre, mid, and post-inspections of works
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety legislation, and relevant codes of practice
- Understanding of common construction defects and preventative measures
- Knowledge of contract management and procurement processes
- Ability to produce detailed reports, specifications, and written correspondence
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant reporting systems
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Minimum of 2 years' work history with references available
